Join Paul in his North London studio for a traditional drawing experience which includes proven methods to improve your traditional drawing skills. 

The Measured drawing technique:

Learn how to accurately measure and plan your drawing from the beginning to end, build form and add details through various shading techniques.

During the workshop you will learn:

  • Introduction to the different types of pencils and what they do

  • Sketching or drawing ? - what is the difference ?

  • Drawing some simple shapes and shading techniques

  • Drawing some simple geometric shapes and shading techniques

  • Some basic methods for making measurements

  • Exercise in drawing and shading the planes of the head

  • Some example methods for drawing the head

  • Measuring the figure from sculptural cast photos

  • Quick sketches for a series of portraits or sculptural cast (from a pre selection of photos)

  • A long drawing of a portrait or sculptural cast (from a pre selection of photos)

*Tip* A4 or A3 drawing pads recommended, as it’s actually easier to accurate drawings on a larger scale…
