Many layers of oils are applied in a process of creation and destruction, until the final landscape emerges…it’s always difficult I find to “describe” these works as they conjure so many thoughts in my own mind while I am working on them. However I feel that I am connecting with some kind of ethereal dimension that has always existed, a world formed by consciousness, rather than representing a “real world” landscape…
“THE WORLD BEYOND” SERIES STATEMENT
These works are from an ongoing series of works titled "The World Beyond" Using the landscape as a metaphor, these works take the viewer on a journey through swirling mists, organic forms and iridescent skies. Using a mixture of brushes and palette knives, these oil paintings capture light and movement, while maintaining a dynamic and dramatic atmosphere. They are meditations created to evoke a connectedness to the ethereal and transitory existence of the human experience within nature, through an otherworldly realm of shifting reality.
